| (Essay Last Updated, Sept. 11, 2003) -- As the uncle of two-year-old twin boys and the father of two girls under the age of two, Halloween has become even more fun as an adult than it ever was as a child.
Dressing up your twins for the big event can be even more fun than dressing a singleton. The shopping options aren't quite as widespread, but if you're willing to plan far enough in advance, you can get your twins some really cute outfits that are sure to double up their fun and stash of treats. Craig and Diane dressed up Brady and Colby as two peas in a pod for their first Halloween (pictured at left) - a popular choice for twins (available from
onestepahead). Another good place to look for halloween outfits for your little ones is
babycenter.com.
Since we first put this essay online two years ago, we have had some parents send in cute photos of their twins dressed up for Halloween. From left to right, below are the Fisher twins also dressed up as Peas in a Pod, the Burnett twins dressed up as a bumblebee and sunflower (symbolic?), and the Espinosa twins dressed up as Pebbles and Bam Bam.
Our site visitors have been sending us some favorite twin halloween outfits of years past. This one at left is from six years ago when the twins in the photo (Anna and Rachel) were six months old. It's obviously the good twin-bad twin theme (the parents let us know their twins switched good twin/bad twin costumes the following year to balance the scales.)
And here's a good idea for costumes modeled by Skyler and Mallory from Pennsylvania. Their mom says comparing her twins is like comparing apples and oranges so that's what she dressed them as in the year 2000 (that's Skyler as the apple and Mallory as the orange).
Here are two more photos that basically prove if you have twin babies, dress them up in any outfit and you'll be sure to hear 'Oh - how cute!!!' at one point during the holiday. The left photo is of the Jacobson twins (Eric and Lilly - little brother Owen is at the right) dressed up as Tigger and Pooh. As you can see, Eric and Lilly graduated onto being mouseketeers the following year. And through their mutual friendship from this website, the Jacobsons gave their Tigger and Pooh outfits to one of her penpals here (MissyJean), and Missy's twins Jacob and Joshua got to be Pooh and Tigger the next year (pictured below).

If you have a favorite twin Halloween photo, send it to us and we'll post it online on this page. Like the McKelvy Family from California did in the Thing 1 and Thing 2 photo above on the left. Or if you just want to send suggestions of good holiday outfits for your multiples (a mother of Quads in North Houston told us her two boys and two girls went as all four Teletubbies), let us know. The first photo below is the Stein Twins, Jason and Jordan, who were out trick-or-treating as twin bumblebees at the tender age of four months. The second image was sent to us from kim5kids, a regular visitor to the Twinstuff.Com Twin Talk Bulletin Board, and shows her twins, Michael and Allison. And the last photo on this page is from one of Twinstuff's most loyal visitors, Kendra. This is she with her twin sister, Connie, circa 1976 or so, standing next to the Millar Truck, evidently. For more Halloween photos of Kendra and Connie, you can visit her web site.
